A Heart Full of Gratitude: The Blessings I’m Thankful For 🌼
This time of year always nudges me to slow down, breathe a little deeper, and really look at the blessings that fill my life. The big ones, the small ones, the furry ones, and even the unexpected ones that stroll through my backyard at dusk.
When I think about all that I have to be thankful for, my heart always goes straight to Jesus Christ, the One who guides me, strengthens me, and fills my days with purpose. Without His grace, I wouldn’t have the peace, the joy, or the courage to keep creating, keep dreaming, and keep building this little business that brings me, and hopefully others, a bit of light.
I’m so thankful for my family, who have shaped me, encouraged me, and believed in me even in seasons when I didn’t believe in myself. Losing my parents changed me forever, but their love continues to inspire everything I do, especially Yellow Petal Co. Every wreath I design, every printable I write, every book I create has a little bit of their spirit tucked inside.
And my friends, supporters, subscribers and customers. You all absolutely overwhelm me with your kindness. Whether you cheer me on during a Faithful Friday devotional, purchase a printable, watch a YouTube video, send a sweet message, or simply pray for me. I feel every ounce of that love. It fuels me more than you know.
Of course, this list wouldn’t be complete without the two little shadows who follow me around the house:
Mr. Bob Scratchit, the opinionated orange king himself, and
Miss Chandler Bing, the sweet little cuddlebug with the black toe beans and a heart of pure gold.
They bring so much laughter, comfort, and companionship. I’m pretty sure God knew I needed both their personalities in my life to balance me out!
And then… there are the backyard buddies.
The ones God sends to my porch like tiny reminders that His creation is wild, wonderful, and sometimes a little weird, and that He cares for every creature, big or small.
- Groceries the raccoon, who pops by for a late-night snack and always makes me laugh.
- Eyebrows the doe, so gentle and elegant, with those expressive little markings that earned her name.
- Red the squirrel, always darting around like he’s late for a very important meeting.
- Lovey and Dovey, the turtle doves who seem to be on an endless date.
- And of course… Small possum, Medium possum, and Large possum - my unexpected trio of nighttime guests who remind me that every creature has its own charm, even the ones people overlook.
And because God truly cares about the little comforts too, I have to mention one more blessing this season: my coffee warmer. I didn’t realize how much joy a simple warm mug could bring until I started using it every morning. On these chilly fall days, it keeps my coffee cozy while I work, pray, or cuddle with the cats. It’s such a small thing, but goodness… it makes my mornings feel a little more peaceful. If you need one too, here’s the one I love: https://amzn.to/44zwTKS
Every day, I look around and realize how blessed I am. Blessed to have a home that’s full of life. Blessed to have work that fills me creatively and spiritually. Blessed to wake up with a joyful heart and a smile on my face. Blessed by the little moments, the quiet ones, and the furry ones with curious noses pressed against my back window.
In the end, it’s not the grand things that make life beautiful. It’s the little things - the faith that steadies us, the people who love us, the friends who show up, the cats who nap beside us, and the critters who remind us that life is full of wonder.
And I am thankful for all of it.
With fur and without. 😉
